Sixty five years ago tomorrow, President Franklin D. Roosevelt invoked the people of our great nation to enter into a sincere and sustained period of prayer. He urged the United States to pray for our nation and for the military troops who were engaged in a historically monumental battle for the sake of freedom.
Notice he did not call upon the American spirit of perseverance or the enlightenment of diversity, nor did he summon a "higher power" or "supreme being". He did not ask our nation's people to harness their inner strength or their steadfast resolve. He called upon God. He called upon the Almighty and petitioned the nation to fall prostrate before the Lord and plead for His mercy and grace for the imminent barrage.
Since then, we've been told that America is not a Christian nation. I think Franklin D. Roosevelt would beg to differ.
Ask yourself this. If the United States faced a present day D-Day, how do you think we would do without God on our side. As a nation who has all but turned our back on Israel and told God that He is no longer politically correct...how do we expect to emerge victorious. We'll be lucky to just survive.

Yes, Deanna, I was surprised to find out we are a Muslim Country. I didn't get to vote on that! Its good to see you writing again, BTW.
We are only a Muslim country because it suits BHO needs right now - but when he needs Christians and Christianity to be on his side - we'll be a Christian country.

I agree with Jules.
I also think that culturally it was the political thing for FDR and even Teddy before him to sound spritual. It is intellectually difficult to be both a good Christian (or any other religion) and a good Progressive. Because progressivism is worship of the state, or of the self. They used religion as a means to an end, but it is now more PC to NOT be Christian and being any other religion is preferable to that, but not as preferable as being a progressive.
Ah, but Obama will be happy to remind you that Islam "helped shape" America.
